The Town of Pontassieve has established a rich program of events for the 50th anniversary of the 1966 flood, each one meant to rekindle the memory of those tragic days but also to provide a more complete understanding of the relationship with la Sieve and the Arno River and how this rapport has evolved over the years. Additionally, the events aim to provide cultural incentives to build a sense of community and civic spirit.

On October 22nd, there will be a conference entitled “The River Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow”, as well as the inauguration of the photography exhibition “Life on the River”, curated by Fotografi del Levante Fiorentino. The exhibition is open until January 4th, 2017.
