The exhibition commemorates the 50th anniversary of the flood in Florence, highlighting the dramatic impact it had on the Galileo Museum

Fifty years after Florence’s flood, the exhibition commemorates the event, highlighting, on one side, the dramatic impact it had on the Museum, and on the other, the rescue operations employed to save historical scientific instruments.
On display are a selection of instruments damaged in the flood and subsequently restored — today kept in the Museum’s depositories — as well as books from the library that were gravely damaged in 1966. All objects are placed side-by-side with images and film clips from the time.
